Bright Idea

Warming Up Winter

Warm, soothing drinks take the edge off in brisk weather. Here are a few ideas to help you stay hydrated and toasty this season.

Hot tea. Try a variety of herbal flavors or green tea (packed with antioxidants) to hit the spot on a chilly day. Experiment with different flavorings, like almond extract, cinnamon or ginger.

Hot apple cider. Pour yourself a cup and add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg for some zest. Throw in a few red-hot candies as you heat the cider to really spice it up. You can even sweeten it a bit with some light maple syrup.

Water with lemon and honey. Here’s a drink that offers low calories and high comfort. This classic combo is a welcome drink for a sore throat or any day. Try other citrus fruits, like limes or oranges.

Tropical treat. Heat up cranberry juice and add a shot of orange juice or pineapple juice for a tangy winter drink. You can use any combination of your favorite juices.
