Susan M. Love M.D. MBA is a co-founder and Senior Partner in Lluminari, a multimedia women’s health company. She is the President and Medical Director of the Susan Love M.D. Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Santa Barbara, CA dedicated to the eradication of breast cancer. She is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine.
She is one of the “founding mothers” of the breast cancer advocacy movement and continues this work by serving on the boards of the National Breast Cancer Coalition and Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization. She was appointed by President Clinton to the National Cancer Advisory Board in 1998. Her primary research interests focus on normal breast anatomy and breast duct fluid as well as hormones and breast cancer.
She is the author of Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book and Dr. Susan Love’s Hormone Book. Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book has been termed “the bible for women with breast cancer” by The New York Times; a newly revised edition was published in October 2000. A second, revised edition of Dr. Susan Love’s Menopause and Hormone Book was released in January 2003. It provides an equally authoritative range of information about options concerning menopause.
Dr. Love lectures nationally and internationally on breast cancer, menopause, and women’s health. She has been awarded six honorary doctorate degrees as well as numerous honors and citations. She provides health services consultation to federal and state agencies as well as to the private sector.
She has a business degree from the Executive MBA program at UCLA’s Anderson School and founded Pro•Duct Health Inc, a medical device company focused on the intraductal approach to the breast, which is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Cytyc Health, Inc. She is on the board of Sanarus Medical, Inc and 1747 (private companies). In addition, she provides consultation to Cytyc Health, PacifiCare and Sensei Health.
